Professional Chimney Sweep Services
Cleaning your chimney is not as simple as you may think; it is not a do-it-yourself project. Only a qualified chimney service professional should clean your chimney. Why? Because without the proper training and licensing, the chimney sweep cleaning your chimney may damage it instead of cleaning it.
There are specialized brushes, tools, and cleaning solutions for various types of soot. If the wrong brushes or cleaners are used on a chimney, it can do substantial and lasting damage.
Our crews are licensed and are Golden State Chimney Sweep Guild certified, so you know you can trust them. Here are some of the types of cleaning we perform.
Cleaning Creosote Out of a Chimney
If you are unfamiliar with creosote, it is a material generated when you burn logs in your fireplace or wood-burning stove. When the wood reaches the combustion point, it produces creosote contained in the smoke floating up your chimney. At first, creosote is a sticky, tar-like substance that adheres to the inside of your chimney and is highly flammable.
Later the creosote becomes flakey and has an ashy appearance, and over time the flakey creosote will transform into a hard substance, which is also highly flammable. If you let your chimney go without cleaning, then the chances of a chimney fire increase each time you use your fireplace or stove.
You Can Depend on Our Chimney Inspectors
It’s vital that when a chimney is inspected, the inspector is familiar with a wide range of chimneys, fireplaces, and the components for both. The Fire, Investigation, Research and Education (F.I.R.E.) certified inspector program is the first and still the only inspection certification offered for the hearth industry. F.I.R.E certifications were conceived over a decade ago and are now the pinnacle of industry certifications. The program stresses the use of detailed procedures for inspecting and investigating fireplaces, chimneys, vented appliances, and vent-free products.
Annual Chimney Cleaning
If it’s been more than a year since you had your chimney cleaned, you likely have a significant creosote buildup (one-eighth of an inch or greater); as we stated before, creosote is highly flammable.
Such a dense buildup will call for a special cleaner that, when applied to creosote, will dissolve it and allow it to be removed with the correct type of brush.
